Everton boss David Moyes has remained tight-lipped throughout the close season
Everton manager David Moyes has finally spoken in an official interview capacity this summer, though I believe I can see why the wait has been so long.
I recall when Moyes initially returned to Everton and there were discussions about what qualities he intended to offer and which signings he hoped to make. Transfer speculation dominates pre-season periods and he has likely grown weary of it.
I suspect he does not wish to be cornered into revealing his hand. He is aware questions will arise regarding the right-back position and particular squad members, and he will want to avoid showing his intentions prematurely.
Perhaps he and the club have opted to keep their plans under wraps and avoid publicly stating they require certain additions, as doing so could inflate transfer valuations or wage demands by signalling desperation.
Additionally, regarding players who might depart, he may prefer not to discuss reduced playing time, as this could weaken their negotiating position when the club seeks acceptable fees.
There is undoubtedly an explanation, and while supporters would have appreciated Moyes being more visible and engaging with the fanbase or addressing the proprietor directly, I anticipate that will occur more comprehensively once the transfer window shuts.
At that point, they may discuss the difficulties encountered during the trading period, the approach taken and the objectives pursued.
