Jarrad Branthwaite expressed confidence in returning to peak performance following Everton’s resolute defensive display in north London.
The centre-back featured prominently as the Toffees secured a valuable point against Tottenham Hotspur, recording their third clean sheet of the current campaign.
The Carlisle-born defender has endured a challenging period with injury setbacks, including groin surgery that curtailed his involvement shortly after a promising breakthrough season at Goodison Park in 2023/24.
After penning a fresh long-term contract extension last summer, a series of hamstring complaints restricted his appearances, limiting him to just ten outings before his campaign concluded prematurely following a stretchered withdrawal during the inaugural Merseyside derby held at Hill Dickinson Stadium on April 19.
Despite these obstacles, the 22-year-old established himself as one of England’s most promising defensive talents during his initial campaign on Merseyside, capped by a substitute appearance in the national team’s friendly victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina immediately preceding the European Championships.
However, subsequent fitness issues have prevented further international recognition.
With manager David Moyes operating with a reduced squad comprising only 18 outfield players, Branthwaite emphasised the importance of maintaining his physical condition.
The former PSV Eindhoven loanee credited his professional circle for supporting him through extended periods of rehabilitation.
Branthwaite acknowledged sustained dedication during the summer months to ensure readiness for pre-season training, having previously targeted England involvement before accumulating injuries disrupted his progress.
He noted Everton’s encouraging beginning to the season, highlighting the difficulty of recent away fixtures and the satisfaction of accumulating points from challenging encounters.
The club had previously struggled on their travels to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, failing to secure maximum points in five consecutive visits before this latest result.
