Most Everton supporters who responded to our pre-season survey anticipate an improved campaign this term, while the next largest group share the belief held by chief executive Angus Kinnear that European competition remains within reach.
The club squandered a prime opportunity to bring continental football to Hill Dickinson Stadium for the inaugural time last season. However, a winless streak spanning seven matches to conclude the season, including dispiriting losses to Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur, ultimately resulted in a 13th-place finish.
Kinnear informed BBC Radio Merseyside this week that the club’s proprietors, The Friedkin Group, regarded that outcome as a disappointment, noting that European competition has proven to be within grasp given how near the club came.
He stated that upon taking ownership, approximately 12 players were under contract, making the previous summer’s rebuilding process particularly demanding. The club had become overly dependent on loanees and veterans, requiring substantial restructuring.
This summer’s efforts remain considerable, though the club finds itself in a stronger position and operating from a higher baseline. All involved are focused on mounting a serious challenge for European qualification while avoiding the late-season fade that plagued the previous campaign.
Everton have secured five fresh faces to their roster during the transfer window, encompassing Merlin Rohl and Tyrique George, whose temporary moves have been converted to permanent deals. Nevertheless, the club still requires reinforcements at right-back, with many supporters also considering a new forward priority.

The plurality, at 38 percent, envision a top-10 finish, representing a first such achievement since 2021. A quarter of respondents expect David Moyes’ squad to land between 10th and 15th.
A mere five percent believe Everton will face a relegation scrap, concluding between 15th and 20th.
